AUSTRIAN MUSEUM OF FOLK LIFE & FOLK ART Walking Chair has been contacted by the Director of the museum Margot Schindler and the deputy director Matthias Beitl to redesign the museum´s reception area. As this area serves different purposes the task was to integrate different functions in a harmonious form. The so-called welcome-area combines an integrated museum shop, two workstations, a small library as well as a presentation area for postcards and a wardrobe. The museum´s premises feature a friendly and bright atmosphere and due to the limited day light the welcome area was designed in an intensive lavender color which at the same time visually ushers the neighboring exhibition room colored in dark bordeaux.
